Alaafin Of Oyo And His 4 Wives Celebrate Birthday Together - Poster Family For Polygamy?

Posted in: ,

The Alaafin of Oyo Kingdom, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi, with his four beautiful wives were all together as he celebrated his 76th birthday in London on Sunday, 31st August, 2014.

A photo of them at the airport last weekend while leaving Nigeria went viral on the internet as many commenters wondered how they have managed to live together, and some attributing their harmony either to a facade on the part of the women, or because the man has enough money for all.

What do you think? Do you know of many polygamous families where there appears to be such peace and accord?

More photos from the party and at the airport below....

OJB Jezreel Speaks On Being Married To Three Wives and Having Eight Children

Posted in: ,

OJB Jezreel has always been married to his three wives - June, Mabel and Korede - but it was only recently it became news.

This was following his first wife's donation of one of her kidneys to him after he suffered kidney failure and publicly begged for funding for his treatment.

Speaking in a recent interview, the producer and musician says he won't advice anyone to marry three wives but said it was his destiny.

I don’t think it has anything to do with fame. There are people without fame yet they married more than three wives. Those people are not even rich. I think it is destiny; there is no other way to explain it.

Man Marries Two Women On The Same Day, Brother Congratulates Him [Photos]

Posted in: , , ,

Speaking of polygamy becoming more acceptable to men and women [read here], I've never heard of situations where the marriage happens on the same day.

Well, Muhammed Maina took to Twitter to congratulate his brother, pictured above, who he says, "got married to two beautiful ladies all at once" on their "special day".

Will I be naughty if I ask whether there will be a threesome on the wedding night? OK, I'll ask other questions like was he dating them at the same time? Who planned the wedding? Are they friends?

Anyway, congrats to the beautiful family, I can't call them couple?

No Baby Mama Drama - An African American Makes A Case For Polygyny In The Black Community

Posted in: , ,

By Varian Xavier on Facebook

This is one of my fbook friends who is in a lovely/beautiful polygynous relationship. Polygyny is growing and more black couples are considering it and engaging in it.

Polygyny is for the benefit of women and children and with the women out numbering men it can be a solution to family unity. In polygyny every woman can have a man and every child can have a father.

Polygyny is a big help financially when grown folk get together and combine their resources. It is not for everybody but for those engaged in it seem to be very happy and the children are cared for by a loving family. All parties involved have to be mature and understanding.

At first, he had trouble balancing the demands of two girlfriends, but very early on into their 18-
month relationship he learned the attention he paid to one, had to be paid to the other. Ben told Women's Day:

Dear Myne - My Igbo Boyfriend Doesn't Like My Polygamous Family

Posted in: , ,

I am very happy to have come across your post about someone being happily married to an Igbo man as I am on the same path. I am Yoruba and him and I have made up our minds to get married but now he feels afraid that his people will not accept me because of my mother's polygamist life style. Really I am very saddened by this. I just need attention and advice on this. Truly, I hope to get help on this.
